All You Need To Know About Stainless Steel 316 Slitting Coils

Stainless Steel 316 Coils

What is slitting coil?

Coils are reduced to various thicknesses and widths using stainless steel rolling mills. Once the necessary thickness has been determined, the coil is slit-to-width using a procedure known as steel coil slitting.

A metal cutting operation which includes cutting a massive rolls or coils of sheet metal using a sharpened rotary blade is called as steel coil slitting. Straight lines are achieved by cutting them in lengthwise through the huge coil which is resulting in thinner strips. As we all know all applications need the capacity of slitting the Stainless Steel 316 Coils, it can be cut into variety of widths. Slitting of stainless steel is done according to the needs of specific project or job under proficiencies.

How slitting is performed:

A un-coiler, a slitter, and a re-coiler are the three basic components of a slitting machine. It is necessary to ensure the material’s effectiveness, all aspects must be ideally coordinated. Knife clearance and cutter spacing, for example, must be determined and aligned. For the work to be done correctly, superior tools and sharp blades must be present.

Features of stainless steel 316 coil slitting:

In chloride settings, SS 316 Slitting Coils offers a strong overall corrosion resistance quality that notably higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. It has exceptional forming and welding properties. Industrial, architectural and transport industry uses braked and rolled parts more often so it helps to upgrade these industries. Stainless Steel 316 Slitting Coils also have excellent welding properties. Post-weld annealing is not required when welding thin sections.

Stainless Steel 316 Slit Coils are used for the following purposes:

SS 316 Slit Coils are used for a variety of applications, including food prep equipment, particularly in chloride environments, research lab benches and equipment, coastline architectural wall panels, railings and trim, boat fittings, chemical containers, including for travel, heat exchangers, knitted or welded screens for mining, mineral extraction, and water filtration, and exhaust matting.

Also some of them uses slitting in these applications:

  • Chemical apparatus.
  • Linings for coal hoppers.
  • Filter screens for oil wells.
  • Shipping barrels.
  • Barrels of beer.
  • Vessels under pressure.
  • Evaporators.
  • Coils for cooling vessels used in cryogenics.
  • Fittings and valves for sanitary use.
  • Cones for televisions.
  • Vaults.
  • Tobacco processing equipment
  • Trim and molding for automobiles.

Minimal roughness, minimum slope, and maximum flatness are all requirements for stainless steel slitting. This is important to the material’s form.
